Abstract: Community-based environmental protection (CBEP) is assessed as one of the effective approaches for environmental management and sustainable development, which is considered as a place-based, participatory approach. In this dissertation, the study of some typical CBEP models in Bac Giang province of Vietnam was assessed with regards to environmental outcomes, economic and social benefits. This study is hoped to contribute to the knowledge of models on community-based environmental protection in general. At the local level, the findings will allow practical recommendations to be made with an aim to improve models on CBEP in Bac Giang. It is also hoped that the study will be also applicable in other areas in Vietnam as well as other third world cities with similar characteristics.
