ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | With companies and organizations around the world aiming to minimize costs and increase efficiency, outsourcing of facilities management has become a common practice in the industry. To take advantage of increased productivity and increased performance of their operations, companies turn to outsourcing as an important part of their business model. This dissertation seeks to understand the current practices in the industry and to collect data to observe the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing based on a case study. It is also to find out any problems behind the low service standards of any facilities management team and the reasons for it and the data collected shows major reasons such as a lack of customer focus, quality and costs issues faced by both facilities management team and organizations.
