Abstract: Chinese cities are undergoing unprecedented transformation within the 20 years. Now China is planning to set up 20 new cities annually in the coming 20 years.1 With the economic boom Chinese cities got the opportunity but also brought many problems in the city planning. Global urbanization makes the cities more and more similar without difference. The city memories disappear. This dissertation is intent to use the effective public open space design to help to restore the character of city and analyze the organization and function of public open space to plan the city meaningfully
