Abstract: Numerous research studies have been carried out on the penetration rate of mobile devices today. More recently, there have been an increasing number of studies that focus on the widespread use of mobile applications and how this phenomenon has affected the major industries. However, very few studies have been undertaken to examine the emergence of mobile applications in the real estate industry. The objective of this study is to examine the utilisation of smartphones in Singapore and investigate the usage of real estate mobile applications. This study will also identify features of a real estate application that would appeal to users in Singapore and thus will be useful to current and prospective real estate mobile applications in Singapore. This study involved the use of two statistical methods, namely the Descriptive Statistic and One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). The results from this study validate the high penetration rate of mobile devices and mobile applications in Singapore. However, the results show that real estate mobile applications in Singapore have not gained traction in Singapore. Additionally, the results from this study have both reinforced and weakened the existing literature on real estate mobile applications. The results were able to shine light on the different preferences of functions to be included in a real estate mobile application in Singapore as compared to other countries. Finally, the results indicate that people are optimistic about the future of mobile applications in real estate, which suggests high potential in the development of mobile applications in real estate.
