Issue Date: | 14-Apr-2011 | Citation: | SOMDEEP NANDY (2011-04-14). URBAN SUSTAINABILITY INDICATORS FOR KOLKATA. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | The number of cities and their respective populations across the world has grown exponentially over time. Such growth has imposed extreme pressure on ecosystems that support urban areas and their populations. India is no exception to this observation. In this research Kolkata is taken as a case study. The study involves identifying and quantifying a wide range of indicators that would explain the capacity for sustainability of urban areas. These indicators are of two types, namely Environmental and Social. The measurements of these indicators for selected wards of Kolkata provide insight into the sustainability potential of Kolkata, and also the areas for policy intervention | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/222333 |
