Abstract: The adoption rate of Building Information Modeling (BIM) in Singapore’s construction industry has risen rapidly over the years due to the numerous benefits that it has demonstrated to the global construction industry since it was first introduced. However, it should be noted that adoption rate does not reflect the true BIM capability of the industry. This study focuses on assessing the BIM capability of the local industry by using the stages of BIM implementation maturity. Through this assessment, it will help to determine whether the industry has reaped the full benefits of BIM. In addition, this study also analyzes how the experience of a company will affect its BIM implementation maturity. Quantitative data was collected through a survey questionnaire, which was sent to BIM professionals in various disciplines in Singapore. The responses were then processed using various statistical analyses. It was subsequently found and statistically proven that a company’s BIM implementation maturity is affected by the number of projects that utilize BIM and the number of years BIM has been implemented in the company. A conceptual framework to improve the BIM implementation maturity was proposed based on the results of the research findings. Recommendations are also made to the various stakeholders, i.e. the Government authorities, industry professionals and software vendors.
