Abstract: The project aims to explore the opportunities of applying digital media in architecture. We live in a digital era and digital media influence the way we work, live and play. As architecture reflects the spirituality and essence of our era, my thesis question how digital media influence architecture. The project (e-urban square) explores the opportunities of mediatecture within a chosen urban context. The project focuses on media technology and its applications on building envelope, urban spaces programs and digital interfaces. Though study and research of existing digital medial technologies, the project is a reinvention of digital media in architecture form. i used the metaphor of a continuous digital surface that warp around function and program to create a digital urban carpet and curtain on the site. The horizontal digital carpet covers the pedestrian walkway on both side of the river and the undulating surface change in morphology offers public seating, cafe and exhibition spaces. Technical research on digital media is used to integrate existing technologies into an urban environment. The fluid form of the media wall is evaluated using parametric criteria and finalised by setting up an angle and distance criteria test.
