Issue Date: | 2019 | Citation: | LIEW JIN WEN (2019). ELECTROCHROMIC WINDOW FOR IMPROVING THERMAL AND ENERGY PERFORMANCE OF TROPICAL BUILDINGS. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | As global warming starts to garner more attention from people worldwide, Singapore is also looking into measures to mitigate the effects of rising temperature. One of the ways is to look into the thermal insulation of the building. Over the years, electrochromic windows have been receiving more attention due to its advancement in reducing glare and providing thermal comfort to space. However, there has been limited literature conducted on the feasibility of installing electrochromic windows in the tropical climate. In this study, the experiment will be conducted to test the optical performance, thermal comfort and energy savings of the electrochromic window against a low-E window and a standard glass. Overall, the results have shown that the electrochromic window has the potential to reduce the energy consumption of the building and save up to $60 per annum for electricity bills. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/221419 |
