Abstract: In today’s society, where the eminent impact of climate change is becoming a bigger part of our lives and news headlines, it is only natural that more efforts and funds are being put into investigating the possibilities of reducing the harmful effects of climate change. Greenhouse gases (GHG) are looming clouds over our heads that threaten the Earth’s current being. How do our lives affect global warming? And what measures are we taking towards saving the Earth from harmful emissions? How do our ways of burning fossil fuel contribute to global warming at alarming rates? This dissertation seeks to establish current problems and parameters to Singapore’s transportation system. This dissertation begins by understanding the meaning of what carbon footprint is and what it means to be carbon neutral. Following this, each component mentioned above is studied and the optimum method for reducing carbon footprints is taken into consideration. Once all that has been defined, transportation is zoomed in on and broken down in its current state. Problem, current solutions and future plans are analyzed as a means to establish the best possible way to curb emissions in the transportation sector.
