Abstract: Singapore is rich in its multi-cultural values, which makes the country unique. Arts and culture has also been increasingly important in making Singapore a global arts city as mentioned by the Ministry, Communication and the Arts, that it has been planning to develop Singapore as an international business hub, where local, regional and international arts and culture can prosper. As the different cultures preserves its authentic spatial qualities and environments for the different activities and performances, it is necessary to make architectural spaces flexible to fit in the different spatial requirements. Flexible architecture not only benefit and enhances the needs of the various programs it can cater to, it also allows for new possibility for the society in creating a new imagery of architecture from something that is fixed, to creating a flexible, sustainable and creative-free space. With flexible architecture, it is possible to achieve economic and ecological balance. As a result, this report will discuss the strategies and potential techniques and applications that can be applied to performance spaces in Singapore to achieve a multifunctional space that enhances the Architecture of Performing Arts and carving out creativity in a new art form of a space through flexible design ideas.
