Abstract: This new concept, Building Information Modelling (BIM), has made tremendous change in the current AEC practice. It is widely demanded by owners and professionals of this field. The application of BIM saves time and cost yet improving the quality delivered. However, there is limited research on the implementation of BIM in Facilities Management despite the huge benefits reap during the design and construction stage of a building. It has been suggested that COBie is a possible standard to use with BIM as it allows FM information to be organised for the handover. This study focuses on the benefits and issues of BIM and FM, the contents and processes adopted in COBie together with its benefits and challenges. It analyses the opinions of BIM implementation in FM, the barriers perceived by FM and the information and processes required by COBie. Quantitative data is collected through the use of questionnaire which is sent out to the professionals from both AEC and FM companies in Singapore. The results were then analysed with various statistical tools. A simple guide is produced from the analysis to help tackle the research problem in regards to the implementation of BIM in FM and COBie. The contents of the guide focus on the worksheets required and responsibilities of each stakeholder in a project. Some recommendations are made to the current work practice of the industry in Singapore context. This shall help companies in a head start for BIM-FM implementation.
