Abstract: The transport sector in Singapore contributed up to 14.5% of green house gases emission in Singapore, making it the 2nd highest contributor. Existing policy tried to control the number of cars, however this paper looks at a solution to capture the carbon emitted by car and putting it into good use. Biochar, a material that has been widely used in the agricultural industry to improve crop yield has also been discovered that it has the ability to absorb and adsorb carbon and storing it in the biomass for thousand of years. A comparison between dry leaves and palm tree’s stem as biomass will be conducted to find out which type of feedstock will produce a more effective biochar. While all tests will be carried out in the lab, the biochar will be subjected carbon dioxide testing in room temperature of 30 OC to ensure its effectiveness in normal atmospheric conditions. A feasibility study is also carried out in basement carparks to test for suitable location to deploy biochar. According to the experiment result, it is proved that biochar has the capability to absorb and adsorb carbon dioxide and palm tree’s stem is a better feedstock for biochar in terms of carbon dioxide absorption and adsorption. More research and experiment will have to be conducted to resolve the problem faced during the experiment.
