ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | In Singapore, the commercial sector consumes up to 74% of the nation electricity (Building & Construction Authority, 2018). According to BCA (2018), academic buildings account for 11 % of the energy consumed in Singapore. It is the next highest energy consumption after the office building. Over the years, energy consumption in academic buildings have increased constantly. Energy management is a useful tool to be implemented to reduce the energy used in buildings. This study aims to create an energy management guide book for academic buildings in Singapore. The guide book consists of information regarding the parameters influencing energy consumption, typical energy distribution of educational building, data collection and analysis required to ensure the effectiveness of the energy management is included in the book. Interview and survey questionnaire were sent to the Facilities Managers of different academic buildings. It is to confirm the information found in the literature review and to find out the current practice of energy management in Singapore.
