Issue Date: | 12-Jun-2019 | Citation: | JING LIYANG (2019-06-12). INVESTIGATE ON RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TLS RESOLUTION, EFFICIENCY AND ACCURACY OF VOLUMETRIC ESTIMATION. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Terrestrial Laser Scanning is a non-contact technology which used laser beam to capture and measure the distance to a target. With the increasing demand for TLS in various application, hence, there is strong incentive to obtain a more accurate and cost-efficient result for various activities. TLS provides a fast and accurate way to measure and estimate volume for excavated pit on construction site. However, using highest resolution setting does not always brings the best overall performance due to labor and time involved in the post scanning process. Most of the researches focus on developing new algorithm of volume calculation to improve efficiency. Yet, very little attention has paid on the relationship between scanning resolution and efficiency. This research aims to compare different resolution setting with volumetric result accuracy and duration taken for both scanning and post scanning through a systematically experimental study. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/219881 |
