Abstract: This paper discuss on the unsafe behaviours of mobile crane operators that can be identified from data logger report. It is a requirement for all mobile cranes to be fitted with data loggers with effect from 1 August 2015. While there are extensive operational parameters information provided in mobile crane data logger reports, there is still a lack of research conducted on quantitative measures and application that review the data logger reports regularly to monitor and assess the lifting operations for any anomaly or unsafe situation. In addition, monitoring the crane operators and their behaviours is relatively difficult considering the risk perception that is subjective and could affect workers’ behaviours (Arezes and Miguel, 2008). This research paper will fill in the gap by developing a prototype Data-logger Web Application that solves such issues. In this research study, online survey questionnaires and interviews with construction experts were adopted to collect data on their views on the crane safety. Based on the top unsafe behaviours identified in data logger reports, a pairwise comparison of these behaviours will be conducted through online survey questionnaires. Subsequently, Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) was used to assess the relative importance weights of unsafe behaviours that the mobile crane operators involved in (Lin, Wang, and Yu, 2008). Interviews with experts will then be carried out to provide a detailed views of unsafe behaviours and suggestions to web application. The use of the web-based application in construction provides the convenience of integrated information that improves collaboration process and minimises errors (Chan and Leung, 2004). Therefore, this study proposed a Data-logger Web Application to keep track of operators’ daily performance. The development of prototype is designed to identify different unsafe behaviours and extract relevant data from data logger reports, process useful information according to specific requirements as well as display safety outcomes in an integrated frontend HMTL webpages accessible to relevant parties who manage the risks associated with mobile cranes.
