Abstract: This thesis paper aims to seek solutions and ideas in improving the living quality of the migrant workers in Shenzhen (China). Without fully demolishing of the existing site, the scheme seeks a strategic intervention onto the site. Mainly dealing with problems arises from the congested site, creating more communal spaces; improving of day lighting, ventilation and air quality. Chapter 1 introduction of the existing site conditions in Shenzhen & identifying major problems arises from the site. Chapter 2 Strategies adopted at an urban level. Chapter 3 Strategies adopted at a building level. Mainly, of the integration of the old existing with the new, construction methods and systems integration. Chapter 4 Strategies adopted in Micro-design Chapter 5 Conclusion and results of design.
