Abstract: There have been discussions in the recent past over Singaporeans' national identity and community bonding. Past studies have shown that community bonding is a function of the people's perception of the identity of the township. Therefore this study set out to investigate Singaporean's perception of Ideal Township which will promote community bonding to enhance the people's sense of belonging to, and pride in, their township. In view of the objective of the study, the relevant literature was reviewed. The case study which was conducted through a survey revealed that the presence of the following main factors: Amenities; Sense of Belonging; Recreation facilities; Utilities; Environment; Town management and Schools, constitute an ideal township. These factors and their associated variables could be a good guide to policy-makers and administrators in upgrading the existing township to promote community bonding and identity.
