Abstract: There were three data chapters, each with a broad research objective that address a problem statement. The first chapter quantifies and assesses bee taxonomic effort (chapter 1), forming a foundation for subsequent chapters. With a better understanding of bee taxonomic effort, trends in bee species description were assessed via trajectories of bee descriptions (chapter 2). In the third and last chapter, bee taxonomic expertise was assessed, to capture the current state of taxonomic expertise through geography and gender.
