Abstract: The emerging wireless technologies are initiated to support applications like Internet of Things (IoT), vehicular communication, etc. The major requirements are to reduce the power consumed, increase the data rate, decrease the latency of the networks and improve the connectivity. In this thesis, we considered attacks that affect the network latency and the power consumption of the devices. These attacks cannot be handled with traditional cryptography based security algorithm and thereby require the deployment of Intrusion Detection Systems. The detection algorithms proposed can detect malicious nodes in clustered IoT and vehicular networks with high reliability.
