Abstract: To address complex and multi-faceted scientific problems, there is a burgeoning need to embrace interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research. Chemical Biology, as defined by the United States National Science Foundation, “involves the use of chemistry and biology to advance our understanding of basic concepts and theories in both areas of scholarship, while potentially fostering the development of a new transdisciplinary area of research and education.” In this thesis, interdisciplinary approaches melding organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, protein chemistry, biochemistry and material chemistry were employed to address outstanding issues in the field of chemoproteomics and intracellular delivery of therapeutic proteins.
