Abstract: Exhibitions make up a valuable sector of tourism and it is growing significantly in size and economic importance. Today exhibitions are not always being held in exhibition centres. Exhibition facilities are offered in many kinds of premises not used exclusively for this purpose. The criteria in which exhibitors choose an exhibition venue are regarded as having significant implications for exhibition centres. The main objective of this dissertation is to identify the determinant factors when choosing an exhibition venue as well as the more critical ones. Quantitative and qualitative factors are not preferred over each other and have their own effect in affecting the choice of exhibitors. It is important to know that exhibitors all recognize the unique features inherent in this specialized building type that other premises will not be able to provide. The survey results show that non-exhibition industry professionals choose a venue based only on a slightly different criterion but still relatively have the same preferences. Apart from the requirements, it was necessary to consider the country's position and how it contributes to the industry. The new exhibition centre Singapore Expo is also mentioned to understand the significant impact it can make on the industry, especially against foreign competitors.
