Abstract: The quality of life of an individual broadly examines "how good life is" and has been a paramount concern of urban sociology. This dissertation is an attempt to unravel the quality of life of residents in nursing homes in Singapore, a small group of people who nevertheless should not be forgotten. Due to the nature of their restricted compounds, their overall quality of life can only be comprehended by themselves, their families and staff of the nursing home. The focal point envisions the quality of life of residents as being influenced by their physical environment, social interaction and interpersonal relations with staff. It is hoped that this academic study can throw light on the present facilities and programs of nursing homes and how they can be improved or carried over to future nursing home developments, to enable the residents to attain a higher quality of life.
