Issue Date: | 2001 | Citation: | LIM TEE HSIUNG (2001). EFFECTIVENESS OF A PROPERTY MANAGEMENT PORTAL ON CONDOMINIUM DEVELOPMENTS. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | With the use of the Internet becoming prevalent, it is expected to have a profound impact on our everyday lives. Anticipating this fact, Singapore is gearing herself towards the Information Technology age. With every sector of the economy responding to the government's call to bravely take on the information age, the real estate industry has enthusiastically responded as well with the setting up of intelligent homes and property portals. Amidst all this portal frenzy with almost every respectable property developer jumping furiously onto the bandwagon, has it ever occurred to anyone that the portals might not be that effective in delivering what it has promised? Therefore, the purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of a portal, specifically a property management portal for condominiums, from the viewpoint of residents. From the results of the multinomial logistic regression, the effectiveness shall be determined with recommendations made to further improve it. The portal chosen for this study was the 8apples system. Results of the study revealed that out of the proposed fifteen variables thought to be of influence towards the effectiveness of the portal, only four were significant. Based on the four variables, recommendations were made to improve the portal through contents quality, presentation and modes of updating residents. Judging from the pace of progress that Singapore is making in the IT arena, the future for this new mode of property management certainly looks optimistic and promising. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/190713 |
