Issue Date: | 1999 | Citation: | SEE YING HWEE (1999). LOCATION OF BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE CENTRES IN PRIVATE RESIDENTIAL ESTATES. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | The rise in the number of dual career households has led to an increasing need for more social amenities such as child care, before and after school care and geriatric care facilities over the past few years. The potential demand for such amenities, especially before and after school care, is bound to increase over the years as the number of mothers returning to the workforce increases. Before and after school care is selected for this study because of the limited number of such centres in private residential estates. The objective of this study is to determine how to select an appropriate site for the setting up of a Before and After School Care (BASC) centre. Operators of BASC centres are required to comply with certain regulatory measures imposed by the various statutory boards and ministries. Most operators do not encounter much difficulty in the process of application. However, certain locational decisions had to be taken into account in the selection of an appropriate site to operate such a business. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/188215 |
