Abstract: This thesis investigates the possibility of autonomous flight of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) indoor by integrating LiDaR sensors, customized algorithm, adaptive Monte Carlo localization technique together with BIM information. The thesis has outlined briefly the current state of art and introduced the various hardware and software components involved to achieve full autonomous indoor flight. The work represented was of an exploratory nature and the tests have shown promising results based on a simple flight path conducted indoor, demonstrating the feasibility of the approach taken by the candidate. Building on the previous work of an earlier thesis, the current work has taken the concept forward by integrating avoidance detection technology to a UAV unit.
