Abstract: With the living standard of Singapore on the rise, many Singaporeans' basic needs have already been fulfilled Many families have both parents on the work-force and with their combined income, they have substantial savings. Furthermore, many of these families purchased their Housing Development Board (HDB) flats earlier on when prices were still low. With the recent sharp increase in HDB flats, many owners now have higher purchasing power. With this increase in purchasing power, many owners are either upgrading from public housing to private property or investing in a second property. With the recent increase in property prices, many Singaporeans are rushing in so as not to miss the boat. Hence, this prompts the writer to make a research into the profile of Singaporean property owners and investors in the local residential market. The objective of this study is to study the profile of this particular type of buyers and hence a more accurate solution can be found in trying to curb the continuing increase in the property prices. Continuing increase in property prices has got serious repercussions as genuine buyers would not be able to purchase a home. Using a questionnaire of 300 respondents, the writer has segmented the market into demographic and behavioral factors. The writer has also looked at why the residential sector is such an attractive investment for Singaporeans and foreigners. This study ends with some recommendations for future works.
