Abstract: The study attempted to highlight the housing conditions of foreign construction workers at construction sites. It focused on the present living conditions, their needs, and identify any relationship between housing and productivity. A survey was conducted. Sixty-one foreign Indian construction workers from seven construction sites responded. The survey revealed that majority of the respondents considers their present living conditions unsatisfactory and wants improvement. The respondents also indicated that their living condition have some bearing on their work performance. However, conclusive evidence was not available to establish this relationship. The results strongly suggest that employers need to provide better housing for their workers. To assist employers, the Singapore Government is releasing land for workers' housing and finalising a set of minimum standards for workers' quarters at construction sites.
