Abstract: This project deals with the social environment for youths. The objectives of the project is to create a social environment that would facilitate interaction among the youths as well as to expose them to various activities of the centre. The centre would be open to all youths in particular those in their adolescence. This age group has particular lifestyle of their own and is characterised by their preoccupation with identity and strong peer relationship. The Youth Centre would cater for the social and recreation needs of the youths; and to provide an environment to enhance the development of self. The Youth Centre comprise of a youth hostel and the youth centre proper. The Youth Centre would be run by the National Youth Council and Youth Challenge. Its programme would include a Youth Club, enrichment courses, tuition centre and recreation. It would also hold activities such as sports workshop, seminars, social activities with social awareness themes etc. Commercial activities are also included to serve as attraction and social activity. Terraces with open seating areas would provide youths with flexibility of organising their own activities. Social issue To provide an environment for youths to develop themselves through recreation and interaction with other youths as well as meeting the psychological and social needs. Architectural issues Social environment for youths has to address their culture and lifestyle. The natureof its boundary would communicate the public aspect of the Youth Centre.
