Abstract: Design Management involves many areas from exhibition, graphic, product and interior design. This dissertation concerns only one area; the construction field. Innovative designs have increased the complexity of producing designs which require high quality in construction. If errors and omissions abound, contractors' claims multiply, architects' and consultants' indemnity premiums rise accordingly. Recent research has shown that a constructability program is being used to create early awareness during the design phase to minimise design-related problems and produced economic benefits. The key elements in management of design also help to improve the overall design process. Thus, the primary focus of this dissertation is to investigate the problems encountered in civil engineering design which revolves around co-ordination, flow of data information, design and process complexities. This is to determine the level of constructability awareness. A questionnaire survey has been prepared to conduct interviews with construction professionals. It was found that the majority has little perception in constructability concepts as well as general views on buildability.
