AMINO SUGAR-SCHIFF'S BASE COMPLEXES

Abstract

Amino-sugar Schiff's bases 1,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-2-deoxy-2salicylaldimino-?-D-glucopyranose 5, 1,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-2-p-anisaldimino-2-deoxy-?-D-glucopyranose 6, 1,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-2-m-nitrobenzaldimino-2-deoxy-?-D-glucopyranose 7, and 1,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-2-cinnamaldimino-2-deoxy-?-D-glucopyranose 8 were synthesised from 2-amino-2-deoxy-?-D-glucopyranose hydrochloride by reaction with the respective aldehydes. The synthesis of the copper (II) complex of 5 was attempted but the expected product 9 was not obtained. Methyl 2,3-di-O-acetyl-6-amino-4-O-benzoyl-6-deoxy-?-D-glucopyranoside 15 , a starting material for- 6-amino-sugar Schiff's bases, was synthesised from methyl ?-D-glucopyranoside.
