Abstract: This thesis presents the Formalized Service Specification and Analysis (FSSA) Model. The model, which comprises a tool kit and a service interaction analysis concept, can be applied in the requirements analysis phase of the service creation process. The tool kit is used during service functional analysis to transform service descriptions into uniform interaction-oriented service specifications, i.e. formal service specifications. The service interaction analysis concept uses the derived formal service specifications of two services to determine the service interaction between the two services. In this thesis, the model is applied to two services to demonstrate its application. In addition, the design principles adopted for the model are discussed. A qualitative evaluation of the model is performed and the results, together with the model's limitations are also delineated in the thesis. The future work recommended for the model are also presented at the end of the thesis.
