Title: CONFLICT RESOLUTION IN A COLLECTIVIST CULTURE
Authors: SOH JO CHIH

Citation: SOH JO CHIH (2000). CONFLICT RESOLUTION IN A COLLECTIVIST CULTURE. ScholarBank@NUS Repository.
Abstract: The aim of this present study is to explore the situation-person interaction on conflict resolution and found that both the situation (i.e. relationship with disputant) as well as the attribute of the person (i.e. horizontal and vertical idiocentrism-allocentrism) determine one's preferences for conflict resolution strategies. In addition, the horizontal and vertical dimension of idiocentrism and allocentrism was found to be related to preferences for conflict resolution procedures in a horizontal ingroup-outgroup and vertical ingroup relationship respectively. This has important implications for future research on conflict resolution as well as individualism-collectivism.
