Abstract: Before I embarked on this journey to investigate the emotions of the drug addicts. I had a simplistic assumption that emotion was the issue that many drug addicts relapse or take the first puff that locks them to the addiction spiral. However, during the quest of the research, I discover in the midst of the emotional realms of the drug addicts, their life experiences, their perception about themselves in relation to addiction, about the emotions and awareness about themselves, the interplay of many factors like their life events, emotions evoked because of these events and their coping mechanisms. All these made this journey worthwhile and meaningful. Readers have to look beyond the lines of the stories unfold, the spills of the bits and pieces of significant events and the emotions that arose. From this journey, we discovered that these addicts were poor in expressing themselves and lacked alternative ways of coping with such emotions. Hence, they chose what was most familiar - drugs.
