Issue Date: | 1992 | Citation: | LEOW THIAM SENG (1992). FEASIBILITY OF USE OF GOVERNMENT SCHOOLS FOR MULTI-PURPOSE ACTIVITIES IN THE EVENING. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Traditionally, the school is used as a venue mainly for formal education. Therefore, it is solely designed and reserved for the privileged school-going age generation. However, the hidden potential of this multi-million-dollar infrastructure is far from being fully exploited. In resource scarce Singapore, the optimisation of resources is extremely important. As expectations and demand for quality education, and hence educational facilities, rises, the need to optimise the use of this valuable asset becomes even more urgent and important. Several ways and approaches have been suggested by professionals in different countries. The extensive use of the facility is one of the ways suggested. However, the extension of school premises to non-traditional users in the evening has created several problems, mainly relating to estate management, to the local school authority. Upon this, this dissertation will examine the various measures that can be adopted to make the extensive use of school premises more efficient. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/177412 |
