Title: | DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF OBJECT-ORIENTED DATABASE FOR IS-41 C AUTHENTICATION CENTRE | Authors: | LEE AIK TUAN | Issue Date: | 1999 | Citation: | LEE AIK TUAN (1999). DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF OBJECT-ORIENTED DATABASE FOR IS-41 C AUTHENTICATION CENTRE. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | The Authentication Centre (AC) is an Intelligent Network (IN) application in a cellular mobile network whose main function is to prevent fraud in the cellular network through the use of cloned mobile phones. Being a critical element in the cellular network, the AC database must be both fault tolerant and able to handle large transaction volume, while at the same time providing a semantically-rich and extensible model to enable complex applications to be built. This project involves the conversion of the AC database from the existing Enscribe database to the ADS object database. It proposes a methodology that allow developers to systematically convert the databases from a nested relational database into an object oriented database. The methodology is different from most related work in a number of ways. Firstly, this work presupposes that the developers are familiar with the domain in which they are working with. Secondly both the source and the target databases are not standard database models. Instead of a new data model, the methodology considers the presence of a set of pre-defined classes or frameworks. Because of the reliance on the domain expertise and the complexity of the source and target models, this methodology is described as a set of guidelines rather than some fixed algorithms. This methodology has been applied successfully in the conversion of the AC databases from the Enscribe database to the ADS Object database, and testing of the target database have provided satisfactory results on the output of the converted schema. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/177270 |
