Abstract: Building maintenance is of the essence in order to preserve the built environment. Inadequacy of maintenance could lead to serious consequences, especially in hospitals where a man's life is at stake. Therefore, it is a necessity to maintain the hospital's facilities at a much higher standard than normal requirements. In Singapore, there is an increasing trend towards the provision of quality health care. Thus, it is essential to study the present system of maintenance in private hospitals. This study aims to evaluate the different styles of hospital maintenance in order to devise a better system to upgrade the efficiency and standard of hospitals in Singapore. Suggestions have been given as to the usage of Building Automation System, Quality Assurance and Maintenance Feedback; and how they aid in the management of hospital maintenance. Considerations have also been suggested to the effects and usefulness when applying the relatively new concepts of maintenance management.
