Abstract: This study carried out a series of experimental investigation on beam-to-beam composite joints (BBCJs) to evaluate their structural properties such as the rotational stiffness and moment resistance, and the test results were compared with the analytical predictions based on the component method in Eurocode 4. According to these studies, it was revealed that the reasonable moment - rotation characteristics of BBCJs can be obtained by the component method to which the proposed effective width and effective length are applied. In addition, this study also performed a comprehensive investigation on semi-continuous composite beams (SCCBs) including theoretical and experimental studies to evaluate their design moment and deflection. Based on these studies, it was found that the design moment and deflection of SCCBs can be accurately predicted by the derived theoretical equations. Furthermore, a simplified design method for SCCBs considering the effects of pattern loading was proposed.
