ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Discrete event simulation is a modeling technique for the study of systems whose state may change only at discrete points in time. This type of modeling is applicable to many real-world problems, and a wide variety of environments/languages and packages have been developed for the purpose of modeling these situations. To establish a simulator, we should define its activity and action; to study the simulator, we should let it work under various environments and collect running data for analysis. Unfortunately, it is often very costly for us to analyze the simulation results. A proposal to augment simulation process with database support is given in this thesis. An SQL-enhanced simulation environment - SSC is also presented in this lhcsis, in which we augment a discrete event simulation language with database support to help simulation researchers or programmers to analyse and trace simulation data more easily and effectively. With the SQL database support engine in SSC, users firstly set up models including database structure definition required in SQL database engine. During program designing and implementation, they report the relevant information to tile applied tables. After running their models one or more times, users will be able to trace the simulation program, go through all the simulation experimental output data stored in the database and perform SQL manipulation to the tables. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/175854 |
