Abstract: As a theory which emerged from the older Einstein-Cartan-Kibble-Sciama Theory (a more generalised version of Einsteins theory), the Teleparallel Theory of gravity is proposed as one of the alternative theories for the Einsteins Theory of General Relativity. Historically, an equivalence between the Einstein-Hilbert and the Teleparallel action has been claimed when the spacetime curvature tensor to zero. In this thesis, we examine this equivalence and elucidate some key points. We also examine the symmetries that each theory possess and address the question of their equivalence.
