Issue Date: | 1992 | Citation: | LUI WOON YING (1992). REFURBISHMENT OF PRIVATE RESIDENTIAL HOUSING. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | Property refurbishment is fast becoming an important facet in property development and is expected to take centrestage as Singapore's stock of buildings mature. Over the years, with an increasing awareness to protect our heritage of scarce resources, refurbishment is thus seen as a creative process to rejuvenate old bui1dings into modern fabric. This dissertation thus attempts to uncover the underlying reasons motivating refurbishment. The life cycle characteristics of a building is also examined to highlight the actions that can be taken to keep a building be on par with the others. The crux of the study deals with the refurbishment of residential properties that have only begun on a new track to counteract changing trends and aspirations of home buyers. The case study deals with one of the rare refurbished residential buildings in Singapore. It has revealed that refurbishment of such nature are as feasible and viable as commercial properties. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/173361 |
