Abstract: The main objective of this thesis was to investigate the effects of two types of compounds in the regulation of hypertension. Finally, the effects of specific and non-soecific muscarinic antagonists on the release of EDRF in the cholinergic pathway associated with decreasing peripheral resistance and secondly, the role of des-aspartate angiotensin I and its associated enzyme, the novel aminopeptidase X, in regulation of vasoconstriction in the hypertensive rate model, the SHR.
