Title: | THE HETEROSEXUAL MALE | Authors: | AMIR HAKIM BIN ABDUL QUDDOOS | Issue Date: | 1996 | Citation: | AMIR HAKIM BIN ABDUL QUDDOOS (1996). THE HETEROSEXUAL MALE. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | This Academic exercise examines the construction of heterosexual male adolescent sexuality among secondary school students by analyzing oral narratives , collected from seventeen male adolescents through structured in-depth interviews. Adolescents knowledge of sexuality are derived from social constructs. The knowledge base for 'being a man' act as scripts in the development of sexuality among adolescents'. The knowledge attained by the male adolescents shape adolescents' sexuality by establishing and re-establishing values and norms relating to sexuality, masculinity and femininity. In my study I will be examining how and where these expectations about 'proper', 'normal' acceptable behavior come about. Adolescent motivations to choosing particular channels of knowledge are analyzed. The consequences of adopting certain scripts or knowledge are discussed with reference to how they have molded the male adolescent view to 'being a man'. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/172094 |
