Abstract: The common mix design procedures for bituminous mixtures are empirical in nature which do not furnish the material property parameters that can be used analytically for structural design and analysis of pavements. In the mechanistic deisgn and analysis of pavements, fundamental engineering properties and thermal properties of bituminous mixtures are the main input parameters. The present research study was conducted to develop procedures towards characterizing the mechanical and thermal properties of bituminous mixtures for pavement design and analysis.
