Abstract: This thesis contains a theoratical analysis of accuracy problems connected with the machining of workpieces on computer numerical controlled (CNC) machine tools. Via the analysis, a practical method is established to estimate the elementary errors of each component of the CNC machine tool. Furthermore, by using the results of the estimation, a complete error compensation approach using offsets theory and biarc interpolation is carried out. The application of the above approach in an FMS environment is also described in this thesis with the development of a complete software system and finally, the effectiveness of both the methodology and the software package were verified by three lab experiments accordingly.
