Title: | AN SGML BASED ENGINE FOR HYPERMEDIA DOCUMENTS AND FORMS SUPPORT | Authors: | FELICIA CHAN SU LIN | Issue Date: | 1995 | Citation: | FELICIA CHAN SU LIN (1995). AN SGML BASED ENGINE FOR HYPERMEDIA DOCUMENTS AND FORMS SUPPORT. ScholarBank@NUS Repository. | Abstract: | The purpose of this project is to create a translator that can accept documents written in a widely accepted and used international document standard such as SGML. The translator will also convert these documents to a binary output that can be interpreted by an existing application used by my company for viewing on line documents. By using SGML, the company's documents can therefore be easily interchanged with other organizations (local or global) with whom my company has many links with. As the current application for viewing online documents mainly displays text media, other media such as video, audio and animation are required to enrich the presentation of on line documents and enable it to be used for online trainings. As the technology for displaying multimedia information is now available in hardware and software, and with the demands of multimedia support in on line documents increasing today, it is therefore also necessary to be able to extend the viewing application to display multimedia. With the above in mind, the author of this report has thus been motivated to choose this project to develop a translator that interprets documents in SGML, including specifications for multimedia presentations and convert them to a binary output supported by a viewing application. | URI: | https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/171477 |
