Abstract: The study of morality has long been dominated by philosophers and developmental psychologists. However, in the realm of sociology, there is a lack of similar in-depth investigations. This study aims to contribute to our understanding of morality as a social phenomenon. It seeks to reveal that amongst other social factors, religion is a powerful determinant of moral orientations. Using a two-prong approach, I have employed both qualitative and quantitative instruments in my research. Such an approach has enabled a deeper examination into the complex relationship between religion and morality. In particular, it has highlighted the differences between Protestants, Catholics and Non-religionists in their moral orientations. Thus, this Academic Exercise attempts to contribute to a sociology of morality.
