Abstract: This work describes the research carried out from the month of September, 1950 to the month of May, 1951 in the University of Malaya on some measurements of air movement. A new type of thermocouple anemometer has been developed for the measurement of low velocity air movement. The thermistor has also been used as an anemometer, and is described in the Appendix. Measurements of the air movement at different positions in a room were made, using two thermocouple anemometers. The correlations of the wind velocities at these positions were calculated by means of statistical analysis. The amount of variation of air movement of low velocity was next studied. From the fine-structure of the air movement in a one-minute record the mean velocity and the standard deviation from the mean velocity was found. An attempt was then made to find some empirical relationship between the standard deviation and the mean velocity of the low velocity air movement.
