Citation: SEAH YIEN CHIONG (1992). ETHNICITY AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN SINGAPORE. ScholarBank@NUS Repository.
Abstract: This academic exercise examines the entrepreneurial behaviour of the three ethnic groups in Singapore. The main data for this exercise was taken from the membership directories of the Chinese, Indian and Malay Chambers of Commerce. Comparisons will be made between various ethnic firms in different industrial categories. Early entrepreneurial behaviour, the economic and cultural backgrounds of the three ethnic groups will be examined. The exercise concludes that differences in entrepreneurship among the Chinese, Indians and Malays arose from their different economic and cultural backgrounds.
