Abstract: A heat pump in cooling mode can simultaneously produce cooling air and hot water through the use of a heat recovery unit placed between the condenser and compressor. In order to study the effects of heat recovery on the system performance, a computer simulation is used. The program simulates steady state conditions and is then modified to accommodate the heat recovery unit. It is also used to study the effects of outdoor ambient air temperature and length of capillary tube on system performance. The results are presented qualitatively and they are found to be similar to results obtained from earlier experimental works.
