Abstract: This study looks at the phenomenon of veiling among a section of Singapore Muslim women. Malay Muslims have a tradition of wearing veils, as exemplified by the clothing styles of the older women. This practise of veiling however differs significantly from the practice of veiling as currently found among the younger generation. This study describes the various practises of veiling as found in Singapore and looks at the conceptions underlying them.
